7th Episode of the Podcast "Explaining Explainability": Monitoring

Why is Artificial Intelligence still struggling to provide exactly the information that meets the needs of those asking questions? One reason is that AI has not yet been able to reliably read and interpret human behavior. In the 7th episode of the podcast “Explaining Explainability”, Professor Britta Wrede talks to two experts about the challenges and problems of so-called monitoring.

Professor Hanna Drimalla, an expert in Human-Centered AI, and linguistics professor Friederike Kern explain what monitoring means and why it is crucial to the process of explanation. While discussing, they provide insight into their research and show how they analyse (mis)understandings in human-human- and AI-human-interactions. By doing so, they shed light on their approaches and how they can contribute to improve monitoring by AI in the future.
