New TRR 318 newsletter on ‘AI and education’

AI and education - a topic with many facets

Children are growing up in a world steeped in technology, but artificial intelligence rarely finds its way into children's literature. Professor Katharina Rohlfing from Paderborn University explains in an interview why it is important to integrate AI into stories for young readers. Among other things, it is about how this form of literature helps children to deal critically with technology and understand their role in shaping AI.

In the news, our researchers‘ opinions on the new EU AI law and the new independent research group “Human-Centric Explainable AI” led by Dr David Johnson, which supports TRR members’ research by investigating AI and its impact on decision-making. There is a review of the workshop ‘Ethics And Normativity of Explainable AI’ at Paderborn University and a reference to the second episode of the ‘Explaining Explainability’ podcast with Professor Britta Wrede, Professor Katharina Rohlfing and Professor Philipp Cimiano.
