On Thursday, a team of TRR 318 visited the Collaborative Research Center/Transregio 248 “Foundations of Perspicuous Software Systems”. The aim of the meeting was to identify interfaces between the two research networks and to intensify the scientific exchange.
Both groups gave an overview of their research activities and presented selected research highlights. A central topic of TRR 248 is the development of understandable software systems that can make their own behaviour understandable. This is directly related to the research of TRR 318, which deals with the construction of explainability in AI systems.
“In our exchange, we identified specific interfaces between our projects,” says the speaker of TRR 318, Professor Katharina Rohlfing. “For example, the common interest in the ‘human-in-the-loop’ approach and multimodality in the interaction with users should be highlighted here.”
In addition to Rohlfing, the TRR 318 delegation consisted of the deputy speaker Professor Philipp Cimiano and the project leaders Professor Kirsten Thommes, Professor Eyke Hüllermeier and Professor Anna-Lisa Vollmer.
