Computer scientist Meisam Booshehri, a doctoral researcher in the INF project of TRR 318, received the Best Demo Award at the 21st International Conference on Semantic Systems in Vienna.
Together with Christian Kullik and Prof. Dr. Philipp Cimiano, he developed the award-winning work “A Semantic Search Engine for the Exploration of Explainability Phenomena.” The system integrates data from various TRR 318 projects and makes them interoperable through semantic technologies and ontologies – meaning they can be compared and searched across projects. Researchers can use it to efficiently identify relevant datasets and explore phenomena related to explainability in artificial intelligence.
Prof. Dr. Philipp Cimiano, project leader and deputy spokesperson of TRR 318, emphasized the importance of the award: “In a time when large language models dominate the research landscape, this recognition underscores the importance of solid knowledge and ontology engineering for making data interoperable in a sound and controllable way.”
