Stefan Lazarov from project A02 will present his research at CogSci. His paper, published before the conference, is entitled ‘Variations in explainers’ gesture deixis in explanations related to the monitoring of explainees‘ understanding’. In this paper, Lazarov, in collaboration with Dr Angela Grimminger, analysed the frequencies of explainers‘ gestural deixis in relation to the monitoring of explainers’ understanding when the explanandum (in this case a board game) is not present in the shared space between the explainers and the explainees. This paper is part of his cumulative dissertation, which deals with different verbal and non-verbal forms of explaining in relation to monitoring the behaviour of explainers. Lazarov will present his findings in a poster presentation.
Psycholinguist Josephine B. Fisher from project A01 - ‘Adaptive Explanation’ will also be present at CogSci. She will be presenting a poster on her article ‘Changes in Partner Models - Effects of Adaptivity in the Course of Explanations’, which was written in collaboration with Professor Heike Buhl and Professor Katharina Rohlfing. This paper analyses the changes in partner models and the effects of adaptivity in the course of explanations.
The presence of researchers from the TRR at CogSci 2024 emphasizes the relevance and progress of the projects in the field of cognitive science.
