The Integrated Research Training Group structures the advanced training of doctoral students and postdocs. To this end, we offer an extensive workshop program for the development of research- and career-related as well as personal skills, consulting, networking and mentoring. We will also organize events such as writing ashrams and conferences. A central focus is on the preparation for and support of interdisciplinary research.

Here we provide all members of the Integrated Research Training Group with information. Please check back from time to time!

If you are a (post) doctoral researcher in TRR318 and have not yet received e-mails from the RTG mailing list, please send an e-mail to the RTG address

Planned events:

  • Workshop „Introduction into SPSS“ and Assistance for „Data analysis with R“

Workshop Data Sharing & Open Science

Claudia Neuendorf (Universität Tübingen) & Aleksander Kocaj (Institut zur Qualitätsentwicklung im Bildungswesen)

In recent years, an increasing number of studies have been published questioning the robustness of the results from empirical studies. Reproducibility and replicability of research results are becoming increasingly important in empirical research. In this regard, Open Science practices are essential building blocks to increase the trust in research findings (Krammer & Svecnik, 2021). In this workshop, we address selected topics from the four core areas of Open Science that help ensure that the entire research process is transparent and accessible (van der Zee & Reich, 2018): (1) study design & preregistration, (2) Open Data, (3) transparency in analysis, and (4) study publication & Open Acess. We address aspects such as preregistration templates and preregistration requirements. In addition, we can discuss which platforms are available for publishing datasets, how to prepare and document research data according to FAIR criteria, and how to make analysis plans transparent and reproducible. We can also discuss data protection aspects of data sharing and how to deal with sensitive variables. The workshop concludes with outlooks on how studies can be published in open access and how data protection regulations can be complied with through synthetic data generation.

The workshop is scheduled for early 2023.

Training for PhDs

Presentation Coaching

We offer presentation coachings in small groups for those of you who plan to attend conferences. The general idea of the format is this: You can perform your presentation beforehand in front of other RTG members, who function as a nice and benevolent audience. The others will give structured peer feedback on your performance (speaking in front of others, slides, presentation structure etc.), so that you can reflect on things to keep and things to change for your actual presentation at the conference.

If you do not plan not present at conferences yet, giving peer feedback is a nice opportunity to watch and learn from others.

For arranging a presentation coaching session, we need at last five persons: two or more presenters and three or more peer feedback givers. Please contact us, if you want to arrange a presentation coaching and tell us your desired time slot and the names of those who will be attending: rtg(at)trr318.uni-paderborn(dot)de.

Training for postdocs

Academic leadership

This workshop is a step in preparation for leading one´s own research group with a focus on mutlidisciplinary teams and cross-cultural differences in understanding of leadership. It is in planning for September 2022, further information will follow!

Train the trainer

Depending on the individual profile our postdocs are invited to provide some methods workshops in the RTG program. Therefore, we can provide you with an individual or small group training for preparing, conducting an evaluating short workshops, just let us know via rtg(at)trr318.upb(dot)de!
