Mixing qualitative and quantitative methods (RTG)

Modes of engagement with naturalistic data by Dr. Iris Nomikou, Senior Lecturer, University of Portsmouth, Department of Psychology

The workshop is geared towards providing the participants with basic procedures needed to grasp the meanings of interactive events in video data. On the basis of video recordings of mother-child interactions, participants will engage both with the data and with each other in order to:

  1. formulate observations by watching and re-examining the data alone and in groups;
  2. develop research questions;
  3. learn the rudiments of case collection and coding scheme development;
  4. learn the basics of coding software.

The workshop aims at developing an awareness of the active analytical engagement with naturalistic data and how this influences the analyses. Activities will take place both in one big group but also in subgroups.

The workshop will take place in presence. To register for the workshop, please send a short e-mail to rtg@trr318.upb.de by 09.12.21.
