Designing sound and meaningful experiments: Principles and ideas from Psychology

Experiments are an important approach within empirical research, because they, in Principe, allow to pin down causal influences, and many research questions aim at causal theories. While their basic structure is easy to understand, there are many pitfalls in designing experiments. We will look at these pitfalls and discuss how to be aware of them and avoid them.

Speaker Information: Ingrid Scharlau, professor of cognitive psychology and psychology didactics at Paderborn University and PI in the RTG, C01, and C04. She loves to work on general questions of psychology and interdisciplinarity and to explicate implicit rules and knowledge in science.
